Abaddon the Lord of Avernus is a melee strength Hero known as one of the most versatile characters in Dota due to his rather low mana dependence coupled with his abilities' almost inexistent cooldowns and huge item viabilities. His ability to help sustain his allies and himself and his strong tower diving capacity gives him solid lane presence. Many of his abilities offer a large sum of utility, which makes him a strongsupport Hero. Mist Coil serves as both a single target nuke and heal that helps shift the sustainability of both allied and enemy heroes in a lane at his will, though sacrificing a portion of his own health. Aphotic Shield holds as one of the most useful abilities in the game, able to shield a target from some damage while also able to reflect said damage to a huge area. The most important aspect, though sometimes overlooked, however is how it is able to dispel many status effects such as ranging from simple overtime damage to heavy disabling stuns and slows. His other abilities also allow him to become a mix between a semi-carry and tank, an example of which is his passive Curse of Avernus which allows his attacks to not only slow down his enemy target, but also speed up both himself and his allies who seem to be targetting the same opponent. With his ultimate, Borrowed Time, Abaddon is able to shift all non-HP removal damage he receives into remedies, healing him of the same value. When not cooling down, Borrowed Time may activate passivley when Abaddon's health falls under a certain threshold, even under the most dire situations. With good awareness, the Lord of Avernus can clearly help keep most of his team alive without ever having the worry of being focused down or dying too early.

Lore:The Font of Avernus is the source of a family's strength, a crack in primal stones from which vapors of prophetic power have issued for generations. Each newborn of the cavernous House Avernus is bathed in the black mist, and by this baptism they are given an innate connection to the mystic energies of the land. They grow up believing themselves fierce protectors of their lineal traditions, the customs of the realm--but what they really are protecting is the Font itself. And the motives of the mist are unclear.
When the infant Abaddon was bathed in the Font, they say something went awry. In the child's eyes there flared a light of comprehension that startled all present and set the sacerdotes to whispering. He was raised with every expectation of following the path all scions of Avernus took--to train in war, that in times of need he might lead the family's army in defense of the ancestral lands. But Abaddon was always one apart. Where others trained with weapons, he bent himself to meditation in the presence of the mist. He drank deep from the vapors that welled from the Font, learning to blend his spirit with the potency that flowed from far beneath the House; he became a creature of the black mist. There was bitterness within the House Avernus--elders and young alike accusing him of neglecting his responsibilities. But all such accusations stopped when Abaddon rode into battle, and they saw how the powers of the mist had given him mastery over life and death beyond those of any lord the House had ever known.

Roshan Dota2

Roshan, sometimes also referred to as Roshan the Immortal, is the most powerful neutral creep in Dota 2. It easily outmatches most heroes in one vs one combat. A team generally waits until later in the game where the damage dealers have better items, or tries to take it on with the entire team.
Every 5 minutes (starting at first lane creep spawn) Roshan gets stronger, gaining: +500 hp, +10 damage and +0.5 armor (given by an aura). He will reach his maximum strength at the 45 minutes mark.
Like all other neutral creeps, Roshan does respawn. However, he does not respawn at fixed times but instead exactly 10 minutes after he was killed. His respawning cannot be stopped (unlike other neutral creeps) by placing wards and/or standing in his area.

Aegis and Cheese

When Roshan is killed, he always drops an Aegis. Once picked up, this item cannot be dropped or given to another hero. When the carrier of Aegis dies, a tombstone spawns on the corpse. After five seconds the hero respawns with full hp and mana on top of the tombstone, which consumes the Aegis. If the Aegis carrier does not die within six minutes of picking it up, the Aegis is removed from the carrier's inventory, and subsequently, is returned to Roshan.
When Roshan respawns a third time, he begins to carry Cheese along with an Aegis. Cheese can be shared with allies just as like any other consumable, or sold for 500 gold. When used, it will instantly give the user 2500 hp and 1000 mana.

[edit]Protected area

Units must be within Roshan's spawn location in order to attack him. Roshan, however can attack anyone in his attack range, even if he is not in his cave. Units outside of his cave cannot see inside without going into it. So, units that are attacking Roshan will not be seen by other enemies outside of the cave, unless a skill that gives vision such as Broodmother's Spin WebTemplar Assassin's Psionic TrapInvoker's Sun Strike, or Clockwerk's Rocket Flare is used inside of the pit.

[edit]Trivia

  • Roshan originates from the Hindi/Sanskrit language for "Light." In Sanskrit Roshan means light particularly the brightness of light. Roshan is also a verb in Hindi meaning "to enlighten."
  • According to the Are We Heroes Yet? comic, Roshan is the only being to have killed a Shopkeeper, thus claiming the Aegis of the Immortal, and being cursed to have his treasure stolen from him again and again.
  • Roshan was named after Guinsoo's bowling ball.[1]
